Cleaning the air duct
June 22, 2023
At DLR, we are committed to ensuring that all our facilities are always in top-notch condition and ready for operation. Obviously, this applies to the air duct of our wind-thermal pilot plant as well. The air duct, which moves an impressive airflow of up to 19,000 cubic meters per hour, is powered by a specially designed radial fan whose blades efficiently dissipate excess heat. Our dear colleagues Carlos Campos Fernández and Alejandro Mesa Heredia have now awakened the air duct from its summer break after a thorough inspection and careful cleaning. In this way, we have ensured that our pilot plant is optimally prepared for the upcoming experiments and data collection.

Webinar of the German Wind Energy Association about windthermal energy
3 February, 2023
Save the Date! This February 17, the German Wind Energy Association offers a Webinar about windthermal energy (language: German). Our dear colleague Malte Neumeier will explain the difference of windthermal energy to indirect wind to heat concepts (e.g. wind to electricity to heat). You will also learn about the stunning potential of windthermal energy, and the best: You will get first hand information about the DLR research project "Aerothermie" and the test results of our windthermal pilot plant.
When: 17 February, 2023, 11.00 AM - 12.30 PM.
Where: Online Webinar (register now)

German Windpower Magazine publishes article about windthermal opportunities

Windthermal platform in Brunswick
21 November, 2022
It's getting serious! Today, we moved the thermal platfrom from Celle to our site in Brunswick. Here we will modify the platform to finally integrate the heat pump. You really need passion for this: It took us a bike ride at 5 am, and one hour waiting at bloody minus five degree: the truck's lifting system was frozen.
